Statement
“In the silence of the deep sea I find the ancient bond between our human limits and the perfection of nature.”
My work starts from the exploration of the sea and from meeting the creatures that live there. In that muffled, solitary world, what lies deepest in us comes back to the surface and, through water, becomes an image: a symbol of inner peace. I keep the real shapes and colours of living beings and natural events, and rework that uniqueness to hold on to its essence, in a positive and vital vision.

Eleven ways of looking at the sea

Macro photographs of corals, worms, anemones and jellyfish, taken on dives from the Ligurian Sea to Indonesia and turned into pure pattern and colour.

Dolphins, whales, sharks and turtles met on dives around the world, set into dreamlike seascapes built from other underwater photographs.

Fireworks over the sea, drawn by the camera in motion during long exposures: light becomes line, ribbon and veil.

Waves photographed at different hours of the day, mirrored into mandalas: sunrise, midday, sunset, full moon.

Shells a few centimetres long, sharp from edge to edge: dozens of macro frames merged into one image.

Walls and tunnels of water at sunset: the sea folded into architecture.

Old stone walls and windows dissolved into threads of light: a castle that appears and vanishes.

Electric blue trails on black, like particles caught in a cloud chamber.

Twenty-four great composers, from Bach to Morricone, portrayed through their scores and trails of light that move like music.

Mediterranean and tropical coastlines in very wide panoramas, from Portofino and Capri to Ibiza, Greece and Tobago.

Brass, teak, rope and gold leaf: details of classic and modern yachts seen up close.
